Grow up is a term created by people of the past who were made to be extremely afraid to be themselves. Surrounded by depressed creatures who became mentally ill.
This term is not to be mistaken for the word - Maturity.
Maturity is what you should strive to attain. Not to "grow up" - meaning, forcefully rip out a part of who you are, and become zombie like.
